We woke up yesterday morning to see a strange round yellow thing surrounded by sky which was actually blue for a change. Having been housebound for several days, with the exception of seeing my GP and going to the chemist (how exciting life is at the moment) Matt quite rightly decided I needed some fresh air. We parked near the castle and had a stroll around its gardens, followed by tea (and cake, obviously).

There were lots of people out enjoying the sunshine including a little boy climbing the grassy embankment, wearing a Norman soldier's helmet and wielding a sword. No doubt plotting his invasion!
There were parts of the castle's grounds that I'd never seen before, despite living only a few minutes away. How seldom we appreciate the places that are right on our doorstep.
